A Fingerprint Can Unlock All Your Passwords on the Samsung Galaxy 5

Your fingerprint can now unlock LastPass passwords on the Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone.
Samsung Galaxy S5 users can now access all of their passwords saved in LastPass with the swipe of a finger.
Password management service LastPass, which stores passwords in a secure online vault to automatically log users into websites, rolled out an update to its Android app on Wednesday that lets the Galaxy S5 fingerprint sensor open the user's cache of passwords — as opposed to typing out the master password manually.

In addition, just by using a fingerprint, users will be able to bypass the prompt to type in their password or PIN (to access any app or site via the smartphone).

Although the iPhone's Touch ID feature lets you use a fingerprint to access the phone and your iTunes account, it doesn't let you scan your way into different apps and website accounts.

The LastPass news comes just four weeks after the company introduced automatic password entry to Android apps and mobile Chrome browsers. Previously, LastPass users needed to copy and paste passwords from the LastPass app to log into native apps and sites.

It's unclear whether fingerprint support or app logins will ever come to iOS.

"Unfortunately, Apple doesn't have an equivalent that allows us to hook into the OS and securely deliver users their data," a LastPass spokesperson told . "We're still looking into it and hope that further updates to iOS may allow us to implement something similar."
