Apple drops price of iPod touch: Now, Rs 16,999 for 16GB in India

In its latest announcement for the Indian market, Apple says the 16GB iPod touch model will be available in the country for Rs 16,900. Earlier available only in silver colour for Rs 17,800, the company has now added a slew of colour options such as pink, yellow, blue, silver and space grey at the lower price point, according to an official statement by the company.

Along with the price cut and new colour options, Apple has also added some feature improvements. The 16GB iPod touch will now come with a 5-megapixel iSight rear camera with 1080p HD video recording, which were earlier limited to only 32 theGb and 64Gb models.

In its statement the company said, “ iPod touch comes with iOS 7, offering more than 200 features including Camera app filters that let you easily add real-time photo effects. Additionally, the Photos app offers ways to automatically organise your photos based on time and location. With iCloud Photo Sharing, it’s simple to share photos and videos with exactly the people you want to see them and your friends and family can comment and access their shared streams from any iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac or PC at any time. This fall, iOS 8 will be supported on the entire iPod touch lineup.

And the price cut is not only limited to the 16GB model. Apple has also lowered the price of the 32GB and 64GB models, which will be available for Rs 20,900 and Rs 24,900 respectively. The 32GB model was earlier available for Rs 23,900 and the 64GB for Rs 29,900.

Apple’s iPod touch sports a 4-inch Retina display, the older A5 chip and the popular FaceTime camera. The design is in line with other Apple products with a thin and light anodised aluminium body.  All models are shipped with iOS 7, but can be upgraded to iOS 8 once the new OS is available later this year.
