Blackberry 10.3 Operating System News and Review

Just this end of September 2014, the Blackberry 10.3 came out with the release of Blackberry Passport. The update on the Blackberry 10 operating system overhauls some of its features.

The user interface got a refreshing new look. New icons are now part of the Blackberry 10.3 update. Moving to a flat dimensional theme, it is certainly sleeker and more sophisticated to look at. Even the phone's dial function numbers are flat and were given a white backdrop to further emphasize the numbers.  The shadow frames in the past are also now gone, giving the user a cleaner and more understandable interface. Even system icons are now flat. They complement the Passport's shape and design.

The Blackberry Hub is also getting a revamp. Some color changes in the menu and the ability to download emails for viewing offline is now implemented.

Blackberry's calendar now gives the option to view weekly reminders. The Blackberry may also notify you of future reminders that you have set. It can also turn the phone to silent and prevent notifications from going off when the user is in a meeting or any other event that requires a silent phone.

A new button to snap pictures is now implemented in the camera app of the Blackberry 10.3. These gives users clear direction on where to tap when taking pictures, and even preventing accidental snaps with the previous tap-anywhere-to-take-a-picture option. A new super panorama feature is also available for those wide angle shots.

The quick drop down menu can now be accessed from anywhere in the Blackberry 10.3 operating system using the two finger swipe down feature.

The biggest features included in the update are the new Blackberry Assistant and the Amazon Appstore. The latter, which debuts on the OS, obviously gives options for downloading apps. The Blackberry Assistant also works like the competitors' Siri and Cortana. You can use your native language to set almost anything. The Blackberry Assistant can be accessed anytime by holding the play button between the VOLUME rockers.

These new features pack a punch and give a refreshing new experience to Blackberry users. Some can only hope that this will bring Blackberry back to shape.
