HTC One M8, One M7 to get Android 5.0 OS Lollipop update in Jan. or Feb. 2015

The HTC One M8 and One M7 smartphones will receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update in January or February.

The Nexus 9 tablet is the latest device that HTC made with Google and is the first device to enjoy the perks of the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Taking the helm for Nexus 9 gives HTC a notch in getting the new OS early. Meanwhile, the Google Play Edition of HTC One will receive the mobile software in November or December.  HTC has a proven track record of rolling out the latest Android software to its devices not long after Google has announced it.

HTC developer LlabTooFer revealed the timeline of the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update to HTC devices. HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) will get the OS update in January or February.  Meanwhile, HTC Desire EYE, HTC One (M8) Dual SIM, HTC One (M7) Dual SIM, HTC One (E8), HTC One (E8) Dual SIM, and HTC Butterfly 2 should receive the update in January to March.  The HTC One Mini 2 and Desire 816 will more likely get the mobile software update in March to April. HTC One Max, HTC One Mini, and HTC Butterfly S will run with the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS in March to May.

The newly-announced Android 5.0 Lollipop packs a "new design language" which is dubbed as Material Design. The new design is way cleaner, and the mobile software packs new navigation buttons that are a triangle, circle and square.

The mobile software will also pack new features such as improved notifications, lockscreen, multi-tasking, notification bar, and better battery. The new OS will also greatly improve the security of the new devices as it will enable users to unlock their smartphones when they physically near enough to a device like an Android Wear smartwatch. Thus, users will be able to open their devices without the need to enter a password.
