Google confirmed that Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 will receive the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS update on Nov. 3.
Google finally rolled out the new Android 5.0 Lollipop OS alongside its latest devices – Nexus 6 and Nexus 9. It is not surprising that previous generations of Nexus devices will be among the first products that will enjoy the perks of the latest mobile software.
After the Nexus devices receive the OS update, Google Play Edition devices will be the next in line for the mobile software upgrade. Taiwanese mobile manufacturer HTC revealed its timeline in rolling out the OS update.
The tech giant first introduced the new operating system to the public in July at the company's annual I/O Developers' Conference. The company rolled out the OS in developers' preview or beta version that enabled the developers to customize their respective apps to work in the new Android 5.0. This also allowed Google to comb Android 5.0 Lollipop OS of bugs and issues.
The latest Android OS features the new Material Design, which gives users vivid colors, responsiveness, and natural shadows in the new user interface. Google stated that the new user interface will bring "intuitive experiences across all your devices." It has a new navigation buttons: a triangle, a circle and a square.
Moreover, the latest operating system includes improved features such as better notifications, lockscreen, multi-tasking, notification bar, and better battery. The new OS also greatly improves the security of the new devices as it enables users to unlock their smartphone when physically near enough a device like an Android Wear smartwatch. Thus, users will be able to open their devices without the need to enter a password.
Another feature packed in Android 5.0 Lollipop is battery saver feature and battery settings screen. When the user plugs in the device, it will show the estimated time left until the battery is fully-charged.
