Updates For Facebook, YouTube, Skype Apps Focus On iPhone 6 And iPhone 6 Plus Support

Popular apps Facebook, YouTube and Skype rolled out updates to their respective iOS versions to better support the new screen sizes of Apple's latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The launch of Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus has attracted consumers and developers alike. The popularity of the new phones forced third-party developers to work on their respective apps for better screen optimization in the big-screened iPhones. Popular apps like Facebook, Skype and YouTube rolled out updates to their iOS counterparts, with complete support for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus along with new features and improvements, Apple Insider reported.

The iOS version of the Facebook app hits version 16.0 and brings major graphical modifications. To better fit the all-new 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus, Facebook iOS app shows smaller native fonts and user interface. Facebook's new update to the iOS app is only focused to bring better screen optimization for the new iPhones along with traditional bug fixes and performance improvements.

Facebook for iOS is available for download from Apple App Store and existing users can update the app from the phone's Settings menu. The app weighs 70.5MB, so be sure to connect to a secure Wi-Fi while downloading Facebook.

Skype

Skype is yet another important app that was updated on Wednesday to compliment the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus' big screens. With the iOS version 5.6, Skype brings new features and support for Apple's new iPhone screen sizes and improved resolutions. Additionally, the app also sports new availability indicators in the "Recent" list and shows the number of contacts along with their respective time zones.

With the updated app, users can also mark individual messages as read or unread and it matches the device's sound profile if set to "Do Not Disturb" mode.

Skype is available as a free 65MB download from Apple App Store.

YouTube

The YouTube app was updated with version 2.13 and brings major glitch fixes along with iPhone 6 support. The updated app fixes the status bar that overlapped the app's UI and the irksome keyboard orientation issue. Users can browse through videos seamlessly and view playlists while adding new videos.
