UPDATE: Sony lists all services as online following a weekend plagued with intermittent outages in the US and UK.
UPDATE: New reports from users suggest that the PSN is now back online for users, some who have been unable to use key features for two days.
However, the DDOS group claiming responsibility for the recent PlayStation outage have warned gamers that they have more attacks planned for the future.
A Twitter account linked to Lizard Squad messaged this weekend: "Our Lizards are currently planning the next step in our crusade. Stay tuned."
The service has been affected intermittently throughout the day, with the official PlayStation Support account on Twitter now advising customers that they may need to restart their console if they are still having issues accessing PSN.
UPDATE: It's been over 24hrs since the first problems were reported on PSN and the service continues to be plagued by problems for some users.
The PSN service Status Page now lists several features as being offline or facing intermittent issues.
Account Management features are currently suffering problems related to signing in and creating accounts on PlayStation Network.
A message from PlayStation reads: "We appreciate your patience while we address this."
Other reported issues include browsing the PlayStation Store, which looks to have been the most badly affected feature this weekend.
A further update from the PlayStation support team on Twitter, whose last message on the problems stated that Sony were investigating, reads: "We are aware that users are having issues accessing PSN.
One user wrote today: "All games are locked, can't activate or deactivate primary PS4, ps network down, no update from playsation or lizardsquad if they are the cause."
While another added: "Had no issues when playing til 3.30 am but now cannot sign, Error code: 80710B36."
UPDATE: Even though the PSN service status currently lists most features as back online, many users are reporting outages across the United States.
An update from the PlayStation support team confirms that problems are still being reported by users on the PS4 and PS3.
A messages on Twitter reads: "Good morning.
"We are aware that some users are still experiencing PSN issues today, and we are investigating."
Problems with PSN first started being reported in the US yesterday evening, while users in the UK have also been badly affected.
DDOS group Lizard Squad have claimed responsibility for the latest outage and have been known in the past to repeat attacks on both PSN and Xbox Live over the same weekend.
Other online services affected by the group include EA servers and Valve's Steam platform.
UPDATE: PlayStation users in the UK are continuing to experience problems using the PSN services.
The PlayStation Service Status Page in the US currently lists the PlayStation Store as the last remaining problem but users across the pond are still reporting issues connected to the earlier outage.
One fan wrote: "How long will it take for this to be restored?
"It will be fixed when it's fixed I guess."
The PlayStation support team on Twitter are yet to officially announce the service as being fully functional again since the original outage at 12am, UK time.
