Blackberry 10 Update Gives Users Thousand More Apps Through Amazon

The Blackberry 10 update is rolling out across the US, and one of the tweaks includes access to the Amazon Appstore.
BlackBerry Classic users on T-Mobile and Verizon, as well as those of BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 on AT&T will get the update first, before it rolls out in phones like the Passport, Leap, Q5, and even the BB10 Porsche Design. The global roll-out is expected to follow in subsequent weeks.
The update, dubbed BlackBerry 10.3.2, gives users a larger fleet of apps to choose from. Amazon Appstore is estimated to have around 400,000 apps, while, as of 2013, the Blackberry World store reportedly has 130,000 apps.
The Blackberry 10 update comes with improvements to the device camera, including reduced blurriness from movements and low light performance in auto-mode. Face-detection is also improved. In addition, the Blackberry 10 update allows users to customize the meeting mode on Blackberry Calendar.
BlackBerry Assistant and BlackBerry Browser are also expected to be upgraded. Blackberry Protect, the anti-theft feature in Blackberry devices, will have enhancements as well.
The company revealed that the Blackberry 10 update will roll out alongside an update to its desktop/tablet software, BlackBerry Blend, with tweaks to spell check, aesthetic improvements to the file transfer process, and the added ability of replying directly on a notification pop-up.
In a blog post, the company formerly known as RIM enthused: "With this update, all U.S. BlackBerry users will get to enjoy a fresh look, improved features, even stronger security and anti-theft protection (BlackBerry Protect!), and access to the Amazon Appstore, with hundreds of thousands of Android apps. More power, more privacy, and even more productivity."
News of the Blackberry 10 Update came after leaks swirled last week of a handset that will be on the Google Android platform.
Already, the company is working on another update. "We're already working on the follow-up update, BlackBerry 10.3.3 and will keep you posted over the coming months," the company said in a blog.
