Google Maps for iOS now gets Night mode

Google Maps has now added a new ‘Night mode’ feature for iOS.

This means the app can automatically switch to a darker display in low light. It will be quite handy update and make Google Maps more useable iPhone users. It should be noted that Google Maps for Android already includes the Night mode. Apple Maps, which isn’t much loved  by Apple users, already has the night mode feature.

“The idea is that this could improve your night vision, as your eyes will no longer have to adjust as you switch between the bright display and the dark road ahead. Sure, it’s a minor feature release, but one that could make Google Maps a safer navigational aid for the millions of drivers who rely on the app instead of an in-dash navigational system,” Techcrunch points out.

Besides, the new update also adds the ability to label places on the map and in search suggestions, offering a more personalised experience. In addition to this, the update will also allow iPhone users to edit captions of photos that you’ve uploaded on Google Maps.
