The new and ultra-thin Samsung Galaxy Tab S is set to debut this week, on June 12, at a launching event in New York. The 10.5 inch Samsung tablet revealed a very slim design that was speculated to battle head-on with the upcoming iPad Air 2.

Samsung-centric website SamMobile got hold of the leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S and it showed that the tablet was just 6.6 millimeter thick, which is a full millimeter thinner compared to the current model of iPad Air. Another photo showed that the Samsung's tablet weighs slightly more at 465 grams. Thus, the tablet will be thinner and lighter compared to iPad Air, which is claimed to be one of the thinnest and lightest tablets in the market.

The tablet will sport he signature look of some Samsung's device – faux leather, which was seen on Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3. As for the features of the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S, the image showed that that Galaxy Tab S can be synced with Samsung smartphones. This feature enables users to answer calls through the tablet. This is similar to the newly-announced Handoff feature in the iOS 8, which allows iPhone users to take calls on their Mac.

According to earlier reports, Samsung Galaxy Tab S line will boast 8.4-inch and 10.5-inch variants. Both models will feature 2560×1600 pixel resolution displays and will be powered by octa-core Exynos 5420 processor with Mali-T628 graphics. The chipset will be paired with 3GB of RAM.

At the back, the tablets will sport an 8-megapixel back camera, and 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The tablet will be available with 32GB of internal storage. However, the device will also be equipped with microSD slot for additional external storage. The tablets will run with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS but will also receive the controversial Samsung Magazine UX interface.
