SINGAPORE - One of the world’s first ultra high-definition laptops has been officially launched in Singapore. Toshiba showed off the 15-inch Satellite P50t, which has a 3,840 x 2,160-pixel screen, also known as a 4k display. Those who visited the PC Show over the weekend may even have spotted it there.
Intended for creative media professionals, the laptop’s 4K display shows images and videos with greater detail and clarity than typical full high-definition screens. The screen has also been calibrated to reproduce colours as accurately as possible. Like most laptops nowadays, the P50t supports touch, though a non-touch version (P50) with a full-HD screen is available, too. The P50 sells for $1,999 while the P50t costs $2,799.
Joining the P50t is the Satellite L series, which marks Toshiba’s first tie-up with audio brand Skullcandy. The result: speakers that provide a rich and clear sound experience. These mainstream laptops, available with 14- or 15-inch screens, are versatile machines that offer buyers a variety of hardware options such as Intel or AMD processors. Prices start at $1,399, though stocks are only expected to arrive later this year.
For the entry-level segment, Toshiba has refreshed its Satellite C series laptops. These budget machines are slim with a textured black finish and feature either Intel or AMD processors.
