According to recent reports, Apple's iBooks app gets a whopping 1 million new users every week. This figure has been calculated ever since the launch of Apple's iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The director of iBooks, Keith Moerer disclosed the figure at the Digital Book World Conference in New York. A report in GigaOm quoted him to have said. "We are seeing more of our book sales starting to come from the phone."  This is an indication that these big screen phones are attracting more ebook readers that no longer have to be confined to the tablet.

Moerer went on to say, "Whether an author chooses to self-publish or work with a small or large publisher, I'm very proud that our business terms are the same. The same 30-70 split Apple takes a 30 percent commission on every ebook sale through iBooks] applies to a self-published author as well as an author published by the very biggest house. Because we're not a publisher ourselves, we work very closely with publishers and we view them as partners."

The report also stated that Moerer gave out his e-mail id during the conference to attract publishers towards iBooks. He said, "If you're not already working with iBooks, the best way to make that first contact is to send me an email, and I'll make sure that it gets to the right person and we'll get back to you."
