Microsoft Updates Office 2016 Preview for Mac

Just a week after a similar update on Windows, Microsoft has released an update for Office 2016 Preview for Mac. As you might expect, this update adds both functional improvements and new features.

Unfortunately, the details are a bit sparse. Microsoft hasn’t (yet) blogged about the update, called Office 2016 for Mac Preview – June 10, 2015 update, and the links you see in the Microsoft AutoUpdate app on Mac don’t go anywhere (yet). A Microsoft support page notes the following changes, however:

Outlook. Networking improvements, reminder improvements, and bug fixes. Separately, Microsoft notes that Outlook for Mac for Office 365, as this app is, called, is only available to eligible Office 365 subscribers. Which is most of them: Office 365 Home and Personal, plus all of the expected commercial versions of Office 365.

Word. Mail merge recipient source improvements, bug fixes.

Excel. Bug fixes.

PowerPoint. Microsoft has added ruler tab stops and the ability to modernize legacy media formats, plus bug fixes.

OneNote. Bug fixes, though Microsoft just added a lot of new features in the previous update.

auto-updated

As before, Office 2016 Preview for Mac requires Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) or newer. You can download the updates using the Microsoft AutoUpdate app on your Mac or manually via the Microsoft support web site.
