Samsung explained that the Gear S2 Classic is made for users who prefer a more timeless design, offering an elegant Black finish with a matching genuine leather band. The Gear S2 is ideal for those who are on-the-go and have an admiration for minimal and modern design. With a growing list of varied dial faces and truly open strap accessorization, Gear S2 can be customized as per the mood and occasion of the user.

This wearable is available across all Samsung retail channels at a price of INR 24,300 for the Gear S2 and INR 25,800 for the Gear S2 Classic. Flipkart is the online partner for Gear S2.

Commenting at the launch, Manu Sharma, Director, Product Marketing, Samsung Electronics India said, “Samsung has been at the forefront of wearable technology with the introduction of an innovative and progressive Gear product portfolio in India. Samsung Gear S2 is a true testimony to our commitment to provide breakthrough technology to make lives of our consumers better. Armed with cutting edge features such as a paradigm defining Circular UI, connectivity solutions and fitness solutions, the Samsung Gear S2 seamlessly blends mobility with convenience. The wearable, with its sleek circular design and an array of accessorization options is sure to become the preferred choice of our discerning customers. With the Gear S2, Samsung is setting brave new standards in the wearables category in India.”

The Gear S2 has been developed further in partnership with Samsung’s R&D Center, Samsung Research Institute (Bangalore) as well as Indian third party partners to cater to the specific needs of Indian consumers.

Sharma indicated that the Gear S2 with its smart circular dial and durable stainless steel body sits slim and sleek on the wrist. Explaining its features, he said that the 11.4-millimeter slim Samsung Gear S2 is extremely light and compact. It is effectively equipped to offer an incredibly vibrant viewing experience both indoors and out in the open with a 1.2-inch 302 ppi circular Super AMOLED screen. The circular dial comes fitted with gorilla glass making it a versatile wear for all occasions. The rich list of customizable dial faces both built in & downloadable from the dedicated app store, give the user a wide and ever growing choice.

“When it comes to accessorization, the Gear S2 is probably the most open wearable device allowing it to be paired to any standard 20mm watch straps in addition to straps available from Samsung. This feature is standard for the Gear S2 Classic while for the Gear S2, a strap adaptor is available in our accessory section. These features give power to the user to ‘dress up’ the wearable device as per their wardrobe. Also, the Flaunt app designed by Samsung’s R&D team in Bangalore allows the choice of keeping their preferred dial face glowing by selecting the ‘thirty minutes’ option; This makes the Gear S2 a perfect stylish wardrobe complement for every occasion. Further, the Gear S2 comes with Samsung’s popular Ultra Power Saving mode so user can extend battery life depending on their circumstances,” said Sharma.

The Gear S2’s rotating bezel, that drives the unique Circular UI delivers probably one of the most intuitive, innovative and yet fun interfaces to have ever been created for a wearable device. The UI is itself a technological innovation designed specifically for wearable devices as it ensures users will have a quick yet precise method to comfortably access notifications and applications. All the things the consumer needs most from the smartphone are now easily available with a simple twist on the Gear S2. Scroll through long emails, pick calls, reply to messages, zoom into a map and play the next track, with one gentle twist.

To Stay fit; adopt a healthy lifestyle with the S-Health, new fitness functions on the Samsung Gear S2 will encourage users to stay healthy and active, says Samsung. This particular feature has been developed specifically for India along with the partnership of SRI, Bangalore and Indian third party partners.

The S Health app, activity sensors and 24H Heart Rate monitor work together to track the user’s calorie burn round the clock. The tracking has been improved with more exercise modes such as freehand and weight training, rep counts, etc. Plus, partner apps like Obino Gear Up, made specifically for the Gear S2, monitor and suggest ideal meals based on Indian food preferences along with exercise options. The meal suggestions come from an extensive Indian food database along with more relevant measuring indices like ‘katori’ (a bowl), ensuring enhanced tracking of diet. The Gear S2 also sends reminder updates to motivate users to stay on track with their fitness goals. By factoring both eaten and burnt calories, the user is given comprehensive guidance to achieve their health goals. There are also other third party apps available at the Gear App store so the user has the freedom to download more health based apps that work for them such as Nike+ for Running, workout trainers, lifestyle monitors, etc.

Games, Entertainment, Apps:- A wearable that does it all: Moving beyond the conventional mobile entertainment apps, Samsung has developed apps through Samsung Research Institute, Bangalore and other third party App developers with a mindset of leveraging the power of a wearable device such as the Gear S2 and its array of sensors such as accelerometer, gyro sensor, proximity sensor, etc. The result has been a new type of ‘Wearable driven’ app that monitors physical game-play of sports such as Tennis, Golf & Cricket. Sports enthusiasts can now get extensive data and even guidance on how they played their game. Those who are serious about their sports along with their coaches get a great new tool with which to analyze and guide performances.

With a capacity for around 250-300 songs, the Gear S2 comes with a built in music player so that workout sessions, jogs and runs and games can be more entertaining and even motivational. Additionally, the Gear S2 can also remotely control music apps on the smartphone for a hands-free listening experience. Simple but engaging games including Hangman and Memory are also available for download on the Gear App store.

Processor & Battery: With the latest Tizen OS and an optimized 1-GHz dual core processor, the Samsung Gear S2 can perform tasks easily and efficiently. It is compatible with all Android devices (Kitkat version) with minimum RAM of 1.5 GB. Equipped with a 250mAh battery, lasting up to 1-2 days, allows users to stay connected on-the-go without the hassle of constantly having to recharge. Also, the Ultra Power Saving mode gets more juice out of every charge. To charge, one can simply place the Samsung Gear S2 on the wireless charging dock right out of the box. The wireless charger has a compact design, making carrying and mounting of the device easy and effortless.

Samsung Gear S2 will be available in a Dark Grey and Silver case with a sporty band. Samsung Gear S2 Classic will be available in a Black case with a Leather band. A variety of band options are also available with both the Gear S2 (Mendini, Warm Grey and Red) and the Gear S2 Classic (Grey leather and Brown leather) from Samsung for the discerning customers.
