Display, Exterior and Size

The Nokia Lumia 720 comes with a 4.3-inch IPS LCD display bundled with 480 x 800-pixel screen resolution, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 features a relatively bigger 5.0-inch display with 540 x 960-pixel resolution. The pixel density of BlackBerry Z3 and Nokia Lumia 720 stand at 220 and 217 ppi, respectively.

When it comes to exterior, the Lumia 720 comes with a matte plastic back like many other Lumia devices. The thickness and the weight of Nokia Lumia 720 are 0.35 inches and 128 g, respectively. On the other hand, the BlackBerry Z3 is 0.37-inch thick and weighs 164 g. Hence, the Lumia handset is both thinner and lighter.

Hardware, Software and Memory

The latest BlackBerry Z3 is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 400) Krait processor, clocked at 1.2 GHz. The Nokia Lumia 720, on the other hand, is powered by a dual-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4) Krait processor, clocked at 1.0 GHz. However, the Nokia Lumia 720 houses only 512 MB of RAM, while BlackBerry Z3 comes with a solid 1.5 GB of RAM.

The Nokia Lumia 720 runs on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 (upgradeable to v8.1), while the BlackBerry Z3 runs on BlackBerry v10.2.1 OS. In addition, both phones offer 8 GB of internal storage and microSD card support for expansion. However, the expansion limit stands at 32 GB for the BlackBerry Z3 and 64 GB for the Lumia 720.

Camera and Battery

The BlackBerry device sports a 5-MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, while the Lumia device features a relatively better 6.7-MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash. In addition, the Nokia Lumia 720 houses a 1.3-MP shooter in the front, while the BlackBerry Z3 houses a 1.1-MP front-facing snaper.

Also, the Nokia Lumia 720 houses a non-removable Li-Ion 2,000-mAh battery unit, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 houses a relatively better Li-Ion 2,500-mAh non-removable battery unit.

Connectivity, SIM and Colour

Both phones come equipped with Wi-Fi 802.11 and microUSB support. However, the difference comes in the form of Bluetooth, the version supported by Lumia handset is v3.0, while that of BlackBerry is v4.0. In addition, both phones come equipped with micro-SIM support.

Furthermore, both handsets do not come with micro HDMI port. Notably, it is one of the unique features of BlackBerry handsets and the BlackBerry Z10 comes with this port. Also, the Lumia 720 supports NFC, while the BlackBerry Z3 doesn't.

The Nokia Lumia 720 comes in red, yellow, white, cyan or black, and blue, whereas the BlackBerry Z3 only comes in black at this point, although white-coloured Z3 is awaited.
