Apple Officially Rolls Out the Welcome Mat for Beats

Not long ago, we were talking about that strange YouTube video where hints about Dr. Dre becoming the first billionaire in hip-hop were spouted off, followed by the tech world’s jaw dropping to the floor at the official announcement that Apple would Acquire Beats Electronics and Beats Music for a scant $3 billion. Today, Apple opened its loving arms to its newly adopted children with a warm welcome on a dedicated page of the company website.

The headline reads, “Welcome to the family,” and the Beats logo sits directly below. Apple explains,

“Today we are excited to officially welcome Beats Music and Beats Electronics to the Apple family. Music has always held a special place in our hearts, and we’re thrilled to join forces with a group of people who love it as much as we do. Beats cofounders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre have created beautiful products that have helped millions of people deepen their connection to music. We’re delighted to be working with the team to elevate that experience even further.

And we can’t wait to hear what’s next.”

Below the welcome announcement is a direct link to the Beats web page, which has it’s own announcement, which reads:

“There’s a new instrument in the Apple Family. Musicians rely on their instrument to give structure and form to their imagination. At the dawn of digital recording, the Macintosh computer was the instrument of choice. At the beginning of portable digital music, the iPod placed the library of the world’s music in your pocket. The iPhone became not only an instrument for music, but also the center of your connected life. The iPad extended this capability with a user interface and apps that allowed you to compose a symphony on the subway. Starting today, we at Beats are fortunate to add our instrument to this legacy by joining Apple. The products we build together will allow us to reimagine sound once again and to continue this great tradition of bringing imagination to life.”

Buy On Apple Store

You can no longer purchase headphones, earphones or speakers directly from the Beats website. When you select a product, you will instead be redirected to the Apple online store to make your purchase.

URBeats SE

There is much speculation as to whether Apple plans to include Beats branded earphones in the next generation of iOS devices. Considering the EarPods were one of the biggest accessory failures in Apple’s recent history, We’re betting that some version of the iconic audio transmitters will make their way into our iPad and iPhone boxes. The URBeats Special Edition would make the perfect compliment. They already offer the same colors that iOS devices come in.
