Sony reveals Bravia S90 curved 4K TV range

Sony has taken the wraps of its new Bravia S90 4K TV range, which hold the distinction of being the manufacturer's first curved sets.

Samsung and LG has already produced a number of curved TV sets, of course, but the faded Japanese giant has thus far held off - at least when it comes to commercial products.

Now, ahead of IFA 2014, Sony has played its hand. The Bravia S90 series will feature 4K resolutions at two screen sizes, 65-inch and 75-inch. They will also, of course, sport a subtle concave curve for that extra immersive touch.

Otherwise, the Bravia S90 series will sport similar specs to the Sony KD-65X9005B - which is no bad thing, as our review will attest to.

You get the same X-Reality PRO picture engine, the same Triluminos colour technology, and the same Motionflow XR800Hz processor.

One other difference, aside from that bend, is a built-in 4.2 channel speaker system - or, as Sony calls it, a "Multi-angle Live Speaker system."

This uses separate drive units to direct sound at carefully controlled angles, giving that surround sound impression.

There's no news yet on price or availability for the Sony Bravia S90 series. Expect to learn more when it's displayed at the IFA 2014 show, which will be held in Berlin from September 5 to September 10. There we'll see Sony's effort up against the latest curved 4K TV sets from Samsung and LG.
