Samsung bets big on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models to drive sales and increase market share in premium handsets segment

Samsung, the leading smartphone maker in India, expects its latest flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models to drive its sales to companies and help increase its market share in the premium handsets segment.

The South Korean conglomerate, which faces a stiff challenge from Apple at the higher-end and the likes of Micromax at the middle-to-lower levels, is already in talks with about 150 companies to promote the new smartphones.

"Companies are currently evaluating and doing PoCs (proof of concepts)," Anuj Kumar Jain, senior vice-president of Enterprise Business at Samsung India, told ET.

Small and medium businesses, or SMBs, will be faster in adopting the new models since they don't have a stringent process for mobile device management deployments, Jain said, adding that the company anticipates a significant pick-up across chief experience officers and mid-level enterprise employees.

"The latest Galaxy S6 is 50% faster than its predecessor S5and works on 30% lower power, which increases the productivity sought by enterprise customers," Jain said.
