Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Release Date

Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge received lots of accolades from several quarters when it was launched but it is said to be not received well by the public. Its poor sales have thrown up possibilities of the smartphone makers to release its upcoming Galaxy Note 5 early into the market.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge took a month to reach 10M mark, reported Forbes which cited data from Korean news agency Yonhap. The fact is that the Galaxy S4 took just 27 days to reach that sales mark while the Galaxy S5 took just 25 days.

The South Korean electronics giant is tight-lipped on its upcoming flagship device but poor sales of its latest device could add pressure and push for an early release of its upcoming device. Moreover, releasing its device before the arrival of Apple's iPhone device will give it an upper hand in the market.

Interestingly, WhowiredKorea has reported that there are possibilities of Samsung releasing its Galaxy Note 5 by the end of July with its prototype set to be completed by mid June. It went on to claim that the move could be seen as a strategy to counter competition from its arch-rival Apple Inc. But, Samsung President Shin Jong-kyun has denied the report of an early launch of the Galaxy Note 5, according to Android Authority. Shin also denied reports that only 200,000 units of the Galaxy 6 were sold out of the 300,000 pre-orders, saying that it will make good business this year.

Notwithstanding reports of a early release, Samsung is very likely to unveil its Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Note 5 Edge at the IFA event in September.

Meanwhile, Samsung has reportedly changed the codename of the Galaxy Note 5 Edge from Project Zen to Project Zero 2 (SM-G928) and that it won't come with S Pen feature, according to SamMobile.

The device is expected to sport a 5.4-inch or 5.5-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display, come packed with 16GB internal storage and 4GB RAM, a 16 MP main camera with OIS feature and an 8 MP front snapper, and curved screen. Know Your Mobile reported that it will be powered by a strong processor (Exynos 7422) called high-density EPOP memory that "combines 3GB LPDDR3 DRAM, 32GB eMMC (embedded multi-media card) and a controller."
