HBO Now comes to Chromecast and Android TV

Apple TV, HBO Now will now also become available on the Google Play store, Chromecast and also on Android TV.

At Google’s I/O conference, Sundar Pichai, SVP of products at Google, announced that HBO’s new streaming service, HBO Now, will come to Android this summer along with Chromecast support for Android, iOS, and web browsers on desktops/laptop computers. Google also announced that, coming soon, it will bring HBO Now and HBO Go to Android TV.

“We’re looking forward to expanding our relationship with Google through HBO Now. We have seen through social media that there is great demand for the service among Android and Chromecast users and we’re excited to deliver HBO NOW to them,” said Bernadette Aulestia, EVP of domestic network distribution at HBO, in a statement.

Pichai also reveadled that Chromecast has seen over 17 million sales around the world. Consumers have used the device to stream content over 1.5 billion times and there are over 20,000 cast-enabled apps in Google Play right now.
