Sony officially announced the Xperia Z4 tablet in March and had been expected to release the device in May 2015. However, the release date has been postponed to June 29.
Buyers can preorder the Wi-Fi-only variant of the device from the company’s official Website. It is worth noting the LTE version of the tablet has yet to be listed for sale, Phone Arena reported. The Xperia Z4 can be preordered for 499 Brtitish pounds ($767) in the U.K. The device is not yet available for preorder in the U.S.
Among the key specifications: The slate features a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with Triluminos technology and X-Reality Engine on board. The display is complemented by 1,600 x 2,560 pixels resolution.
The tablet is 6.1 mm thick and it weighs just 389 grams (13.7 ounces), making it the world's slimmest and lightest 10-inch slate, Phone Arena reported. To top it off, the tablet is as thin as the Apple iPad Air 2.
Under the hood, the Z4 tablet is powered by the latest octa-core, 64-bit (Qualcomm Snapdragon 810) SoC, clocked at 2 GHz. In addition, the slate comes backed by 3 GB of RAM and runs Android 5.0 Lollipop.
When it comes to camera specifications, the Xperia device sports an 8.1 MP rear-facing unit and a gracious 5.1 MP front-facing shooter for selfies and video chat. To top it off, the slate houses a whopping 6,000 mAh battery unit. This unit reportedly can give up to 17 hours of video playback time, Sony said.
On the other hand, similar to other Sony slates, the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet also comes with dust- and water-proof exterior. The device also flaunts IP 65 and IP 68 certifications.
