If your iPhone or iPad is running out of storage space, SanDisk has a solution for you in the form of iXpand Flash Drive.
This tiny drive connects to an iOS device via the Lighting port, so you don’t have to worry about cables, Internet connection or bandwidth limitations.
You then have to install the company’s iXpand Sync app which will allow you to move files from the iOS device into the iXpand Flash Drive’s memory.
Files transferred to the drive will not be accessible by other apps other than iXpand Sync.
But that’s not really a problem as iXpand Sync is a versatile app that can play videos (such as AVI, MP4, MKV and WMV formats) and music, as well as display photos and documents stored on the Flash drive.
As it has a USB jack, it can also be used to transfer files to or from a PC and Mac as well.
The drive supports newer iOS devices such as the iPhone 5 and later, both iPad Air models and all iPad Minis.
It’s available in four capacities – 16GB (RM289), 32GB (RM379), 64GB (RM549) and 128GB (RM829).
SanDisk also unveiled a product for Android devices that supports OTG (on-the-go), the Ultra Dual USB Drive 3.0. This device connects to an Android via the MicroUSB port for transferring photos and videos.
It comes in three storage options – 16GB (RM39), 32GB (RM69) and 64GB (RM129).
Both the iXpand and Ultra Dual are available now.
The company also unveiled high capacity microSD cards with storage space of up to 200GB and Dual Flash Drive with the new USB Type-C jack, but both will be available only in the next quarter.
