While the LG V20 was the first phone to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, the Moto G4 Plus looks to be among the first smartphones to get an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. While the full rollout might still be a bit off, a soak test has reportedly kicked off for the G4 Plus in Brazil.
Owners of the Moto G4 Plus in Brazil who have signed up for the Motorola Feedback Network are beginning to receive the Nougat update that packs nearly 954 MB of data. The update is part of an ongoing soak test, which aims to evaluate the stability and characteristics of Android Nougat on the Moto G4 Plus over a specific period of time. The goal is to ensure that the latest Android OS is free from bugs and glitches once it becomes widely available to all Android users.
As a recap, Android 7.0 Nougat brings nifty new features including the ability to view multiple windows simultaneously, faster way of switching apps, notification priority, night mode option, and the latest security fixes. To learn more about Nougat, check out our review of the software below.
There is no exact date for when Moto G4 Plus users outside of Brazil could get a taste of Nougat. But going by previous release pattern and Lenovo’s announcement in September, the transition is likely to occur between the last week of this month and mid of November.
Also, the Moto Z series is in the waiting line to receive the Android Nougat update based on Lenovo’s roadmap. The Chinese phone maker announced in September that the Moto Z and Moto G4 families would be getting the Nougat treat in the fourth quarter of 2016. In other words, if all goes well, it won’t be long before the OTA update comes
