Personally, I could care less about the new iPhone. I’m very happy with my fifth generation iPod Touch. It has an impressive camera, an amazing screen, and it’s practically like an iPhone.
So, if you’re planning to buy a new iPhone this year, you might want to take a look at the iPod Touch 5g first.
Here are 5 reasons why you should:
1. It’s a huge improvement than its predecessor.
It’s bigger when it comes to screen size, but it’s still lighter when it comes to weight. The camera is also way better. And the minimum storage capacity has doubled! Lastly, it’s twice faster. It has the chip similar to the iPad 2.
So, considering its improvement from its older generation, the iPod Touch 5g is truly worth the price.
2. It’s a bargain compared to the iPhone 5.
The 32 GB iPod Touch 5g is currently retailed at P12490 in Apple’s online store, but you can get it for around P10000-11000 in Greenhills or other retailers.
Now, iPhone 5 costs P27000-30000, depending on where you buy it. That’s more than P10000 savings if you choose to buy the iPod Touch 5g.
In addition, Apple warranty for the iPod Touch is not complicated. It doesn’t matter where you buy your iPod, if it’s within the one-year warranty, you won’t have problems getting it serviced by official Apple service centers (provided that the unit is not jailbroken).
3. Have an iPhone-like experience for half the price.
Except for calling and texting, the iPod Touch 5g can pretty much do everything that an iPhone does. It’s an iPhone without a phone!
You have access to all the iPhone apps. Siri is also available at your disposal. When an iPhone gets an iOS update, you won’t fall behind because your iPod gets an update as well.
4. The camera is impressive. Really impressive.
For such a small and cheap device, the iPod touch’s camera is impressive. If you’ve used the fourth generation iPod, you will feel the huge difference when taking photos.
The iPod Touch 5g comes with a 5 MP iSight camera. It now comes with a LED flash as well. This is most especially helpful when taking photos indoors.

Using the camera also allows you to focus on your subject. You simply tap the part of the screen where you want to focus on. Once the photo is taken, your subject appears with amazing clarity. On the other hand, the background becomes quite blurry making the subject even more defined.
In addition, you can easily take beautiful panoramic shots–a feature that’s also available in iPhone .
5. Storage is doubled for the same price.
The new generation iPod touches no longer comes in 16 GB. The minimum storage is 32 GB. The iPhone 5, on the other hand, has a minimum storage of 16 GB. If you want the 32 GB, you’ll have to add a whopping $100 just for the extra storage.
Almost everyone wants an iPhone. But if you want to be practical, the iPod Touch 5g is an awesome device! It’s reasonably priced, the camera is pretty impressive, and it gives you an iPhone like experience.
If you give it a chance, you might just fall in love with it. Like I did! :)
